Maine Tourism Association says LD 1400 proponents “wait a year to try again”

The Maine Tourism Association Insider, April 16th 2018, has this as part of their electronic publication:

LD 1400 An Act to Create the Bar Harbor Port Authority, allows a port authority to be created only if it is supported by the citizens of Bar Harbor through a referendum question to be held within two years. This was controversial and had some small but vocal opposition throughout the process, although the bill received strong support in initial votes for passage. Many legislators changed their minds and, in the end, the vote to sustain the veto was 25-8 in the Senate and 81-63 in the House. Proponents will have to wait until next year to try again.
